I think admin should get some of the more trustworthy posters on here (helios, Grey Wolf, Duaos, etc.) and give them mod-type privileges that would let them do stuff like remove posts/threads (until admin can look at them) or lock threads. Any comments?

I think it would be nice to at least have someone be able to temporarily remove threads so we don't have to see guys posting HW assignments every other day (although I admit, sometimes it is funny to read the responses).
I completely agree.
I have to agree with this as well.

As the lunatics seemed to have escaped from the nut house, I agree with moderation...

How about a Critical mass function on the Report abuse button, if enough people hit the button it is automatically removed from view until the Admin reviews it?

Also a nice icon to indicate that a thread has been reported.

That's a good idea as well. I've never reported this many threads in my life. There seems to be a particular class of students attending a Portugese College that are using the site for source code storage for an exam today lol. Thankfully the admin is swift in removing them. They are getting a little more creative in their attempts to keep the code up long enough to cheat.

I noticed one of them (Didn't make a note of his name) has put code in his bio ... that is creative.

lol yes that was a good one. The admin locked his account.

Good idea. Might have to not count people on less then 1 week or so though, to prevent people signing up some # of accounts and reporting all the posts for no reason.

Jesus Christ. Have these people no shame?

No. As long as they get they're degree and go off into the world as yet another programmer that will make yet another wave of crappy code that will engulf another logically-challenged programmer which will then keep going until the entire thing is replaced by another retarded programmer therefor restarting the chain more often than system administrators have to reset there servers because of the shitty code the programmers created.

@ Computerquip... You must have taken a really deep breath before you wrote all that lol. I completely agree with firedraco's OP and would also like to respond in nominating him :)

Nah. I have deep lungs :P.
Agree. It's getting ridiculous... and I've barely been on this forum a month.
Are we reviving Grey Wolf's WIBNIs thread from last year?

Anyway. I dislike it that there are so many posters that break rules, like the Portugese college thing. If there's only one admin/mod, it can get pretty hectic. So, make the mods.

And as for this:

Good idea. Might have to not count people on less then 1 week or so though, to prevent people signing up some # of accounts and reporting all the posts for no reason.

There may be two ways to prevent spambots and all that from reporting everything all the time:
1. (which I hope is already in effect) ONE REPORTING PER ACCOUNT PER THREAD.
2. Make only, say, posters with 100 legit posts able to report threads. I mean, I opted for it in the first place, why not use it?

Oh, and yeah, I'm back again. ^_^
Hmmm.....Moderators...Help Me's keylogger post... 'nuf said.

What really made me laugh about Help Me's post is that I must have seen three of them alone on a website called "rohitab" or something.

Not that I was looking how it's done or anything...
SUUUUUUURE
Code Monkey, did you just register to post that?

Also perhaps after registering the person is allowed to make one thread and then has to wait at least 2 days before he can make another, and then he can go on ad infinitum.

I took a class Data Structures, which convinced me that my life's work will not be as a hardcore c++ programmer, and most of the people in the class were running around trying to copy each other's code so they could get an A, but did not really understand what they were supposed to do.
^^ Yeah...the people in my class weren't complete idiots, they at least tried...but even my friend who knew next to nothing about programming was able to understand some stuff like variable types, whereas my class took FOREVER to figure it out...they kept complaining "But we never went over <some specific use of a variable>"
