Okay so I was installing openSUSE 11.4 to dual boot with linux mint and accidently clicked on my sda1 partition instead of my sda5 and wiped linux mint. Now I have openSUSE as the sole operating system, which is fine, except the damn wireless won't work! I desperately need to get it going, so if someone could help that would be awesome! I've downloaded all of the drivers and firmware that I need but, but when I try to connect it goes through the connection process, asks me for security information, and then goes back to the beginning repeating this process! I've also tried configuring it in YaST to no avail! Please help me! Thank you!
Quick question is openSUSE a good distro? I am new to linux and I am trying to try out as many distros as possible and I was wondering what was your opinion. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.
I wouldn't say this is a "quick question," but to give a quick answer I'd say yes! While I'm not fully qualified to say this since I haven't been using the distro very long, it hasn't crashed yet XD, and has run much faster than both Ubuntu and Mint. I'm a big fan of KDE (the main reason I switched), but if that's not your thing it offers a Gnome desktop as well, and you can just try both and take your pick. I'm not sure what distro you're using right now, but this was the first RPM distro I've ever tried, but that hasn't proven to be much of a change. It also doesn't use apt-get like most debian distros and such, but zypper instead, which took a little bit to get used too. I'm still learning the ins and outs of YaST, but openSUSE is a very well documented (though their wiki is a little jumbled at the moment because they're moving over old articles to the new wiki). If you want a little more customization, go with something like Arch or Slackware, but at the same time if you're new to linux, I wouldn't recommend it :/ Also, openSUSE is a little more GUI oriented, so if you're a big bash fan, it might not be your thing. Anyhow, for the first day, it was successful, and hell yes I would recommend it! If you need any help feel free to PM me.
