Getting less sleep than your body requires is a health issue regardless of what you're doing while staying up.

Some people are more focused later at night (fewer distractions).

I'm normally up until 5 (am) most of the time, and I'm awake again at around 6-8 hours later. It's not bad for you as long as you get the required amount of sleep.

Technically yes I suppose, but if deadlines are coming up then it's irrelevant. All-nighters are rites of passage for programmers.

As I program a lot of games. At night, i feel it's better to stay up late, as i find less distractions and there is nothing good on t.v. :(
But sometimes it mucks up my body clock. Like, when i need to be up the next day at say 8:00AM . I won't be able to sleep because i am used to getting up at 1:00PM

So i suppose it's how well you adapt.

As long as you get 6-8 hours of sleep its fine. More than 8 hours is actaully unhealthy.
