I was wondering, if there are any solo programmers, as myself, would like to get together and form a Dev team, that makes whatever programs we think up. I wouldn't want to start right away, because I want to get a bit more experience, but then working with others would gain even more, I have alot of ideas, and will tell you some if I get any responses on this, because I don't want my post becoming too long o:
what experience do you have? I finish university in under a month but whether I'd be interested would depend on the project and the standard of the team, I don't want to work with beginners. I've mainly developed games in the past but wouldn't be averse to developing something different.
I am beginner, that is why I want more experience first... I have a program that I have been working on for a little over a year, but I haven't been working consistently because I haven't had a machine the whole time, this is my third one. You can find it here http://sourceforge.net/u/micahbutler and here http://github.com/princessjinifer/words, you can see how little experience I have, I want to get into arrays and classes, they are important, and I yet to know them yet o:
Schweet :D The more the merrier :) I linked you to my personal project, so you can see what I am into, and what I know, that is pretty much everything I know in that project, I just haven't taken the time to learn anymore for a while, I will very soon and write a few small ones to get the hang of it :)
I want a set of people, not like people who insert just one line of code and then disappear... they don't have to write anything, they could just do some planning, we would be working on different projects and releasing them to a website for people to download, everything would be free and open source, and we could accept donations if we want, we may have a few paid programs if they are good enough, but not yet, that is future thinking, applications would be shared through services like dropbox, ubuntu one or similar, that way everyone would have an up to date version of each program as each individual worked on them. You don't have to be in forever, a few months would do, years, whatever, even if you were a major help for just a day, I would rather you stick and not be an on and off dev, tell me what you think of this, I may come back with more ideas, I just want to have a general idea of who would be working together, and what their skills are :)
A group of people all working on different projects isn't much of a team is it? Why not just join sourceforge? That way your stuff gets more exposure to a large and well established community, and it saves you a ton of leg work.
@Zeillinger: Yep, I decided to create that as an alternative to sourceforge, will keep both of them and put new versions to both, that way the user could have a variety :) except the github only has the linux version right now...
@Computergeek01: I was meaning like we would work on the same project at the same time, but we would have several different projects, we would start out with one, and work on that one, and make the versions go up, then when we think of and create a second program, we would keep up with both, releasing newer versions for each, and we might get up to a few at a time...
@ultifinitus: OH! I see what you mean now. Yes, that could be our first project, we could build tools to help build tools ^_^
