A Survey For An HCI Assignment

I've got an HCI assignment about 'Understanding Users' and one of the questions requires me to fill out 2 copies of a short questionnaire. I've already got my fiancé to fill one out, so I just need one person to fill one out for me.

(a) First, elicit your own mental model. Write down how you think a cash machine (ATM) works. Then answer the following questions (abbreviated from Payne, 1991):

• How much money are you allowed to take out?
• If you took this out and then went to another machine and tried to withdraw the same amount, what would happen?
• What is on your card?
• How is the information used?
• What happens if you enter the wrong number?
• Why are there pauses between the steps of a transaction?
• How long are they?
• What happens if you type ahead during the pauses?
• What happens to the card in the machine?
• Why does it stay inside the machine?
• Do you count the money? Why?

If anyone would like to fill one out for me I'd appreciate it.
I told a few classmates I'd be posting this here, so if more than one person wants to fill this out feel free ;-)

Thanks
What? What's the point of this exercise?
Somehow, this looks like something like either a Freudian psychological mapping test or a free-response poll of sorts. I wonder what it could be used for...

The aim of this assignment is for you to elicit mental models from people. In particular, the goal is for you to understand the nature of people's knowledge about an interactive product in terms of how to use it and how it works.
HAH! I WAS RIGHT! It's some weird Freudian stuff that will turn our br- okay, but seriously. This is a neat assignment and I wish that you have fun with it. I will choose not to participate due to the fact that my answers cannot be translated back to the model I have in my mind, regardless of how I might put the answers down as text.

• How much money are you allowed to take out?

$2000

• If you took this out and then went to another machine and tried to withdraw the same amount, what would happen?

I would have no money left but if I did, it would work.

• What is on your card?

Bank accounts numbers, name, identification number, bank name

• How is the information used?

To identify me as a member of the bank and to allow me to access by bank account.

• What happens if you enter the wrong number?

I would be prompted to type my PIN in again.

• Why are there pauses between the steps of a transaction?

To make sure all of the information is correct and secure.

• How long are they?

500ms

• What happens if you type ahead during the pauses?

Nothing, the characters are ignored.

• What happens to the card in the machine?

It sits there as information is taken from it.

• Why does it stay inside the machine?

So you won't leave until you finish your transaction.

• Do you count the money? Why?

Yes. To make sure the machine gave me the appropriate amount.

Hopefully I answered them properly.
MottMan ? do you not TRUST the MACHINE ?

It's the humans who made it we don't trust.
I don't know, man, I sometimes think the machines are conspHNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
I guess not, but when it comes to cash I don't want to be screwed over by an ATM.
An interesting question would be
• If after you counted the money you find it gave you more than you asked, what would you do?
