I find the "holi" in "holidays" offensive. Also, I'm very depressed, and the "happy" part bothers me. Couldn't it be just some sort of wave of nod of acknowledgement?
We don't want to offend those people that don't celebrate Christmas
Yet on the flip side, we aren't allowed to be offended that they don't celebrate Christmas. Hypocrisy at it's best.
Frankly, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that any person on the face of this planet should ever be the least bit offended at all by anything any other person on the face of this planet says. It's absolutely absurd that society even caters to those that do.
You know what, Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year, and to those of you that take offense at that, @%$# off.
Have a very positive, nondenominential, Capitalist, gift-giving season!
These days there are plenty of people that take offense to Capitalism.

Oh, you're allowed to do that. You're just not allowed to manifest it in any, shall we say, aggressive manner.
You can't ban thought.

I disagree. I'd say that if you take offense to something someone says, it's down to you to deal with it. That of course stops when your notion of "dealing with it" breaks the law...
EDIT: ... to an extent. Any religion that preaches killing should be banned on the grounds of being destructive to society.
I agree with that, but it's more an issue of free speech and inciting violence than being offended at what people say. A religious fanatic could be out on the street preaching that all athiests should be tortured for 17 days then drawn and quartered, and I wouldn't be the least bit offended. The law should definitely step in and stop such blatantly inflammatory speech though.

I'm saying there's no reason to take offense in the first place, hence there should be nothing to deal with anyways, legally or illegally.
