Question about game programming.

I have a question about game programming...
Do I need high physics knowledge for game programming? I know that I need math, lots of math, which isn't a problem, but what about physics knowledge, I kinda avoided physics when I had the opportunity to learn it.
It depends on what kind of game you want to make and how realistic it should be.

2D games
Like Peter said, even if it's a 2D game will it have realistic features? If your 2D game was just a basic card game, then there would be no need for physics.
