You were asked to use a two dimensional array, then why are you using a one dimensional array?
By the way which compiler? Do they allow code for older compilers? If not then download a new compiler and change the headers.
Start by writing the loop. And also figure out how you would print the board and clear the board. Next comes input and handling input and finally comrs board comparisons. Do that and post what you were able to do.
