Create Own Virtual HID MIDI Device?

So I'm in the process of making a MIDI controller handler, I have a successful interface between the MIDI In and MIDI out of the controller. The thing is, I want to create my own MIDI out stream to send to a program, I guess kinda like a midi through but i want to be able to filter what goes through and how, etc. I've researched, and I'ved come to the conclusion that I need to create a virtual HID device, anyone shed some light on where one would look to create my own named virtual HID device? I know i would have to make a driver for it... but ya, I don't think I can make a virtual MIDI device otherwise.
