SOAP / WSDL for web portal on Windows

Hi there,

Is there anyone who have experience with using SOAP / WSDL for designing a web service (e.g., a dynamic web portal accessing databases). how can I use SOAP / WSDL together ASP.NET ASP / ADO.NET technologies for such a design ? A big picture view of it can be very helpful for me.
