Ubuntu 8.10 wifi recognition

Hello, Everyone,

I have recently installed Ubuntu 8.10 as my friend finally convinced me to do so. What I have seen I like; however, it is not recognizing my wireless card (Atheros AR5007). This makes resolving the issue very difficult since my only internet connection is via the wireless network provided by my condo association.

I feel a bit overwhelmed by all this since I am really new to Linux (I have used Windows my whole life). I do know what the terminal is and how to enter code (I don't know any code though).

Can an intelligent and imaginative person figure out how I can resolve this using my internet connection in Windows, thumb drive, and Linux terminal?

I appreciate any help I can get in this matter. Thank you!

Well, this site probably won't be of much assistance to you since your question is not one of programming.

I would suggest googling "ubuntu wireless atheros AR5007" and see if you find other people with similar problems. It is probably a matter of downloading and building a driver.
