mock ftp server

I essentially have to write a mock ftp server which for all intensive purposes will be running in a backtrack machine. I have no idea where to start. I do know scapy/python so that will be the language if someone can point me in the direction id appreciate it.

Why write a new one, surely there are enough ftp servers and tftp servers around.

Agree. Why re-invent the wheel when there are so many of them around. Sometimes C++ programmers in this forum amaze me. Does create from scratch sound that exciting? Especially when that something is already available in abundance in the Internet.

So rule of thumb is unless you have very special unique reason, don't re-invent the wheel.

You could go to sourceforge and search for ftp server. Nothing springs to mind right now.
