Documents in general about how linking works in *Nix?

Hi, i'm looking for some type of tut, article, etc that shows about linking in general for g++ and where the actual linking files go, naming scheme.... basically a whole overview of the process and how that works.

I'm really looking to learn more about it because I'm starting to play around with more libraries and their explaining on linking is confusing. I've only learned superficially about how linking works, so a great article would be very nice on this subject.
