Good IDE for Mac

Heya,

I'm stuck on deciding what C++ IDE I should install on my brand new iMac. I've checked on Code::Blocks, but it appears that it's still a pre-release on the Mac, and I'd rather have a stable IDE instead of betas or alphas.
Is Xcode a C++ IDE?

Thanks in advance,

Is Xcode a C++ IDE?

Yes.

Xcode is my preferred IDE on the Mac.
Okay, so, it's supposed to be on the Applications CD that I got with my iMac, but whenever I try to put the cd in, it has so much friction and doesn't "slide in" when about half-through, is it actualy meant to be like that or should I get it repaired? (I haven't had the courage to slide it in a full 10% because of this.) Sure, I can download Xcode, but I don't want a malfunctioning CD/DVD drive on a new computer.

I can't really say about your drive, but it may well be ok. On my MacBook there seems to be some silicone curtains on the drive to keep dust out but it does seem to require a bit of pushing to get the disk in.
'kay, I'll try to get that disc in, then.

EDIT:
Another dilemma, how do I put it in, data side behind or data side front? :/

The disc? And... what do you mean behind or front?

...oh, wait a sec. You're using an iMac. It's data side behind, I believe. :)

It worked, phew. Was afraid it would devour my disc. (Have seen some really discouraging videos on YouTube where people would grab out the cd with two credit cards - because it was stuck - or where the disc would simply be sent flying when ejected.) Luckily, none of these happened so far.
hi i have a question too, i just used macbook for a few days..
i've installed Xcode, but its a bit confusing(i used to use dev-cpp), do you know how to compile and run code which i write on dev-cpp?

I would suggest that you go to the Xcode Help menu and select something like "Xcode Quick Start" and go through some of the tutorials to find you way around.
I'm having problems with XCode it says I need a MacDev something witch costs $99 and I need an IDE for FREE. Any help?

Gamer36,
Xcode should be on one of the system disks that came with your mac. If you don't have this then you should be able to the Apple Developers Center and register as a developer and then log in and download Xcode.

To register for free (it is possible but they do keep moving the link around) go to:
http://developer.apple.com/programs/which-program/
scroll down to the bottom and look for Register as an Apple Developer from there you should be able to click learn more and go on to register.
Wolf++.

Xcode is free and if you register as a developer you can download it for free, although you can pay Apple $99 to gain access to a developer program for a year, which among other things at the moment and as far as I know gives access to a new version of Xcode (4).
