SDL Open Source Game

I did some SDL in the past until I found out that they don't use any acceleration for 2D for bitmap rotating, and doing all in OpenGL didn't play well together with the SDL_Surface (at least I got too much trouble to be interested).

Is SFML better with its sprites? Are they using DirectDraw (like SDL) or Direct3D?

Anyone here comminting about Ogre3d?
