load data from a text file into arrays for calculations

Hi! I'm really new at programming and I'm in a bit over my head. My professor wants me to make a program that reads data from a .txt file and puts the data into arrays. It's a two column file and I need to read each column into a different array(column 1 into width and column 2 into length). Then i need to use the arrays to do calculations. Can anyone please help me?? Thank you so much!

Well, best place is at the point where you realise this isn't a homework site and showing us where you are having problems etc with work you have put in. Cut and paste the assignment doesn't count.
