keylogger on a raspbian pi

hey guys,

So I'm running a cute little robot off a pi, and I'm trying to figure out how to control it with the wasd keys. ergo, i'd like to run the program, and hold the w key to go forwards, a key to go left, etc., I'm not interested in diagonals at the moment. Simply put, I want to accept input from the keyboard without having to press enter every time. Does anyone know how to do this?

you can try to use SDL library.
