New windows tablet, programmer friendly?

A big issue i had with the ipad was the fact that it was to focused on entertainment, i was not able to take it with me and use it as a compiler on vacations. But this new windows tablet looks stunning(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jozTK-MqEXQ&feature=topics) , do you think these new tablets will support compilers and on the go programming such as visual basic and code::blocks? these tablets look very promising to me, how do you guys think?

Sorry, I couldn't finish watching the sick inducing fluff-fest. That goes for all the 'aren't we brilliant and look at our new product' speeches not just Microsoft.

Lets face it, it is a tablet that runs a version of Windows designed to run on it ... big deal.
If you want Microsoft to make you sick, take a look at the song they intentionally played for NDC (Norway Developers' Conference, I think) 2012 (probably NSFW, and you will definitely regret watching it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TROd29XFHY0

Holy god. I couldn't even finish a minute of that

Quite possibly the worst song I've ever heard.

Please watch--they are lying--you will love every minute.
At this point, I would like to point out that both Amendment VIII of the United States Constitution and the English Bill of Rights explicitly prohibit cruel and unusual punishment.

Therefore, I respectfully ask that all the links to the "song" be removed, as they direct a person to content that generates an experience that is clearly in violation of the above laws.

Don't drink the water they serve you at those conferences.
I'd actually buy one. It's indeed what a portable computer ought to be.
It couldn't replace my desktop of course, that's not its purpose.

Runs Windows 8. Unless they severely and deliberately cripple it, I don't see why one couldn't install Visual Studio Express or other IDEs. That said, I don't think highly portable computers are the content creator's tool. Yet.
so not a single reply actually corresponds to the question i asked . Anyone care to get on topic?

You are wrong! as vlad would say.
Programming on a tablet? You must be insane.
Tablets miss three important things for programming:
1. good physical keyboard
2. big screen or better two
3. fast multicore CPUs with lots of RAM (yeah, I don't like to wait a few seconds for every compile, and keep in mind C++ compilers are one of the slowest and most resource hungry compilers ever)
You can get a sort of plug-in keyboard/stand for the iPad: http://blog.eogn.com/.a/6a00d8341c767353ef0134887043ac970c-800wi

It's just begging the question: If you have to buy something separate so you can use it like a laptop, why not just buy a laptop instead? I guess laptops just don't make you look cooler and with more disposable income than everybody else in quite the same way. They also don't make you look like quite as much of a tool (which incidentally is the best word to describe the guy in the NDC video).

Touchscreen, thinner, lighter. Presumably with longer battery life, too.
I do believe that laptops will gradually be replaced by touchscreen pads, because the latter are more portable. And portability is the main goal, is it not?
"Surface is great for entertainment"

*Frustrated tapping on the screen*
*...*
*Realisation that it's crashed*

"Hold on one second"

*Quickly grabs one of the 527 back-ups on the table*

*Acts like that didn't happen*

The video shows that Microsoft Surface meets all of those requirements. Granted, we can't be sure of how "good" the keyboard is, but with a 1080p screen and an Ivy Bridge Core i5 running behind it, the other two are easily met.
So long as you are comfortable with Direct X, XNA, Metro(?) and Win32 APIs then it will be very programmer friendly. I'm guessing they follow suite and will only have their libraries available at first while other libraries make tweaks where needed (if needed)
Well, current multi-core andriod systems can run ubuntu as a virtual system. It's a complete system, so you can use that to compile I guess. Haven't done that myself though.
Requires a HDMI and USB output from the looks of it.
