Anyone else enjoying Diablo 3?

I don't get to game much, but when I do, I prefer Diablo 3.
Was interested in D3 at first, but the more I heard about it and the more I saw videos of it, the less it blew my skirt up (so to speak). I play Metal Gear Solid PeaceWalker, DuesEx, Elder Scrolls series, Fallout series, Guild Wars, etc.
I pre-ordered it a while back because I kinda grew up with the series. Definitely enjoying it, but it was a major flop in terms of Blizzards track record. The story was predictable, the ambient dialog was crap, the actual dialog was meh, it wasn't very challenging, and the lag and server issues that my self and many others are experiencing is damned right unacceptable.
I too played through the series, I expected the Server issues with the amount of clients that were going to be connecting, to a completely revamped battle.net system, as well as just the sheer number of pre-orders. That doesn't bother me so much, I have experienced some lag here and there, in fact yesterday was the first time I even noticed it, just like diablo 2, everything stopped moving except for my character animation, when it came back I was dead. That will continue to stabilize. I never really paid any attention to the story lines in any of them, I may listen to the dialog and watch the cinematics once through but that's it, so I cant really complain about that. As far as it not being very challenging, have you played inferno yet? I'm in Act4 Hell and it is definitely not a cake walk (Normal and NM were a complete and utter cake walk as was A1 hell). I'm enjoying it very much so and look forward to the challenge (really just waiting to try out the pvp).
People play Diablo for the story? Heh.

I'm not going to get it (I played it a bit during the stress test) and although the game itself seemed fun enough, I dislike where blizzard is going with their DRM.

Seems like they removing leveling basically (no skill or stat selection) and while it sounds nice to me that you can't screw up your character anymore (lol diablo 2), they didn't do it very well IMO. Should've done something more like Borderlands where you can pay in-game money to reset your skills/stats.

I would prefer not, but Diablo 3 was more story driven than any of it's predecessors.

I completely and totally agree. I used to love playing LAN'd up with my friends in D2, and with my dad and his palls in D1. Also, I was rather pissed that I couldn't play it solo the moment I got home from the midnight release because the servers wouldn't be up for another couple of hours (being that I'm ahead a few time zones from blizzard's hq)

Honestly, I'm ok with the new skill system. I agree that doing the stats like borderlands would be nice, though.
I like the skill system, a lot better than any other games skill system (except maybe Never Winter Nights, truly a "builders" game). There is a penalty for switching skills on the fly, for one you cant use it for 30 seconds (whoopy doo), but you lose this buff called Nephalum Valor which stacks up to 5 times giving you gold and magic find with the benefit of additional rare drops from the Act bosses guaranteed. Diablo 2 was patched to allow you to reset your skills at some point as a reward from a quest (or finding some items). I'm always in support of being flexible.

Yes this is terrible from a customer service standpoint.
I have MASSIVE lags in D3 unfortunately. And somehow it manages to heat my laptop to the point of emergency shutdown. I like it though. At first I didn't like the skill system, but it offers enough flexibility, and there were never many ways to build your stats (that wouldn't screw your character over) in D2 in the first place, so that's no big loss. I wish there was a way to turn off the physics - that seems to eat up the most processing power, and it really doesn't add anything other than looking cool (which of course isn't so great when you're seeing everything in slowmo).

I feel like I'm the only person that hasn't had any issues with the game at all. Got it launch day, and never even got the infamous Error 37. I only get occassional lag, normal for online games anyway.

I'm glad they got rid of skill trees and attribute points. So many times you would try a new build in D2, realize it's complete shit then you would have to start the entire game over again. Everything's built around your gear now, which makes more sense and helps fuel the need to get better loot all the time.

Well, you can't turn it off but you can set it on low ^^;;
