Not sure if I can ask this about eBooks

But just wondering if its allowed to ask for any ebooks about programming on this site. I do own a few books myself and some random ebooks. But just wondering if anyone knows anything about getting hold of any of them.
Wachtn posted a link to a zip containing many of them at

Thanks for that Bazzy but I had just recently found that link on a torrent site and downloaded it. Thanks though.
just to add to this, i found a huge bundle of books on thepiratebay. while im not endorsing them, ill just say that about 50% were in .chm (microsoft compiled help) format, and the other 50% in .pdf format.

in total there were about 80 ebooks.

try:
http://gigapedia.com/

You need to make an account and make sure you use the dropdown menu beside the search textbox to select gigapedia before you search.
Personally, I always just buy the hard copies. I find them easier to read, portable, and always available for quick-reference. You can find used books in great condition for reasonable prices online. The free books that I have found are either written poorly or pirated.

I am with Seymore, there is somthing 'easier' about having a physical copy of a good book.

I'm totally against the ripping off of copyrighted materials, however there is a slightly greyer area of; if you have bought the book is it okay to 'get' a digital copy to keep on a pen drive in your pocket, or maybe get a copy of a book that you are thinking of buying (to see if you like the book)?

One thing I am looking forward to is a nice sized ebook reader that is not prohibitively expensive, that may be a good compromise between the wrist strain of a heavy tomb and the retina burn of an TFT screen.
Has anyone bought the Amazon Kindle yet? I'm holding out until version 3 of the device.
