I'm a junior in high school and I'm starting to look at colleges, but I don't know where to start. I've found websites that say what the best colleges for getting hired are as well as which ones are supposedly the best for computer science, but these websites don't really tell me anything I want to know and don't have any of the experience in them. I want to opinions from people who have recently attended, or are attending, college on what colleges are good computer science colleges. I want a school where the classes are difficult, the teachers know what they're doing and are all about hands-on teaching, there is a huge list of computer classes to take, and all the classes are going to take me somewhere. If that's not possible, then I want a school that's as close as it gets. I want a well thought out answer too, not just whatever school you're from because you like your school. Finally, I want an idea of what the school you're talking about is like, so that I can see for sure that it's a school I might want to go to, and to see that this was truly thought out. I don't want a list of schools that I'm going to have to double check.
If you want hands on teaching go to a community college. Most universities teach in lecture halls with over a hundred students. I was also told by the CS department head not too base my school decision on department ratings until graduate school.
