Fictional books

Who else here likes reading? I'm guessing quite a few of you. What are your favourite fictional books?

For Christmas last year I got Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky as well as War and Peace and Anna Karenina by Tolstoy. Over a year later, I've just started reading Crime and Punishment. I also ordered Iliad and Odyssey by Homer, I'm pretty excited about reading those, from what I've read/heard they sound excellent.

The bible *sinister grin*

... No, but seriously I love Asimov, Douglas Adams, and Tolkien. Paradise Lost was intriguing, as was The Divine Comedy. Greek Epics like you mentioned will always have a place in my heart too.

Slightly off topic, Me and one of my friends had come up with this vast mythos that we were going to make into a series of books throughout high school. It kinda started out as us playing pretend when we were in middle school (we called it LARPing, but there wasn't much RPG aspect to it. It was basically playing pretend) and eventually made it's way into our DnD Campaigns and Text RPs.

Needless to say those books never happened. The story is all there, but only a shell of it and neither of us are good writers.
I like reading fiction!

As I don't own a TV these days, I either go out to see a movie, listen to the radio, or read. And as I get enough of the serious side of things from current affairs and real life, I mostly read escapist stuff. Mostly some sort of fantasy, but it can vary. (I do read a bit of non-fiction. For example, I have been reading about genetics and linguistics recently. But I don't count computing books; that's work!)

My favourite authors are probably Douglas Adam, Terry Pratchett, and Walter Moers (esp "The City of Dreaming Books").

I sometimes randomly choose a book at my local library, just to broaden my horizons. Some of those that I enjoyed reading are Audrey Nifneger's "The Time Travelers Wife", Markus Zusak's "The Book Thief", Carlos Ruiz Zafón's "The Shadow of the Wind", Angela Carter's "Nights at the Circus", and Richard Zimler's "The Last Kabbalist of Lisbon ".

And I'm currently read Jasper FForde's latest book: "One of Our Thursdays is Missing"

Damn, you beat me to it...
I ordered Iliad and Odyssey (in one volume) from Amazon and they arrived yesterday. I've read the first chapter of Iliad and it's brilliant.
@Xander The divine comedy is one of my favorite books :B... "In the midway of this our mortal life, I found me in a gloomy wood, astray, and gone from the path direct and e'en to tell it were no easy task..."

"Abandon all hope Ye who enter here"...

I used to own a hard-bound copy of it... but have since parted ways with it when I moved. I Wish I still had it, because that particular translation was one of my favorites...

I Like fantasy fiction mostly...

I do not like Game of thrones... that book bored the shit out of me and I had to put it down... I used to like R.A. Salvatore books... but gave up a little bit ago on them when I was reading the book that had just Wulfgar as the lead character... that book bored me too...

Last good book I read was "Enders Game", probably about six months ago...
Haven't found anything better than Goethe's Faust. I don't read much though..
