For those of you that care..
What is the lowest number of processes you have got windows 7 down to after startup.(and still functioning) (ROG and other 3rd party releases do not count)
Seventeen, but creeping updates are always bumping that. It is about time for me to reinstall again anyway... I just have to decide which weekend I want to spend doing that.
For boot times, the number crunching that is required from my research, and everything that doesn't require graphics then yes, Linux is faster. In general though, using a Linux desktop is a pain and I try to avoid it whenever possible: I would rather SSH into a Linux server and use the CLI from Windows then use a Linux desktop directly.
For overall day-to-day use and desktop performance though, Windows smokes it.
I used to only use Windows for games but I've been using it as my main system for a while since I can't get ndiswrapper to work on Linux. I downloaded the source from Windows and installed it all fine but my Linux system is 32-bit (because 64-bit Arch Linux sucks) and my Windows system is 64-bit, so I can't use the Windows driver and I can't find the 32-bit version (they use a web installer that downloads it for you).
