how to check history?

I know you can check browsing history by going to "history" when internet explorer is opened. but what if i want to check history of offline inputs? like 10:23pm user click "microsoft word" sth along those lines thankyou.
Check the system log.
Offline inputs? I've not heard of anything described that way but I'll try to answer:

- If you're interested in the files that a person recently opened then there is a folder in their profile called "Recent Documents". It's specific location varies a little bit between the different versions of Windows, but that answer is a google search away.

- If you're interested in the users recent IE history then I use a freeware program called iehv from nirsoft: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/iehv.html

- Also for IE you can check their registry hive: HKU\[USERS_SID]\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs . This does NOT show URL's entered in IE 8 through In Private Browsing but if that's a problem then you can turn it off with a GPO.
IT's always fun to dig around in people's internet cache folder, in addition to the history.
Never look at any of your male friends' internet cache. Need I say more?
