Liberty BASIC.... Is It Dead?

I was having a discussion with a fellow programmer about Liberty BASIC programming language. He stated that, 'Yes, it's a good language for beginning programming. but, it's slow and rarely used today.'

Is this REALLY true. Because, ok may not be as good as C++ but come-on!
It's great still -- Do you agree? Yes or No, please comment.
