As an American, the more I read about this the more I think that this was handled wrong from the start.
- The subject Mark Duggan was said to have fired a modified Bruni BBM .380 starter pistol from the passenger seat of a car that was being stopped by police. I can't help but to think that if your country was more familiar with firearms they would know that a revolver of that style transfers what we call Gunshot Resedue or GSR to the shooters hand and sometimes cloths, forget the crap you might hear or read about "well sometimes it doesn't", as a firearms enthusiast I can tell you, even with a low velocity charge, that it happens 99% of the time.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunshot_residue This is easy enough to test for, and if they can't do it then here in the US we have independent Forensic labs that can do it for them for a fee.
- Why haven't your media outlets even mentioned the driver? I don't know if their declining to comment or not I can't find anything on who was driving the car. Or was this guy driving from the passenger seat?
- Nobody in their right mind pulls a .380 against a L.E.O. with an MP5. I'd like to know if this guy has had a history of mental illness\violent behavior that might explain this. This is a serious question, that isn't what I would think of as normal behavior and the BBC doesn't mention any criminal record for this guy.
Honestly I think that the English have better things to riot about then some random guy getting shot, unless there is some kind of police brutality streak occuing in the UK that I'm missing. Not to stir anyone up but what ever happend with that increase in university fees?
EDIT: As a side note, either fire, impeach or imprison the IDIOT responsible for issuing
HOLLOW POINT BULLETS to officers with
AUTOMATIC WEAPONS. You'd think this is obviously a bad idea, but some people...
