Hey there.

I know what a build system is. I know its purpose is precicely
to eliminate preprocessor directives in conditional compiling.

I just thought that, since the opportunity was
there, it would be interesting to make you see
what it feels like knowing you're right and other
people continuously telling you you're wrong.

Sorry if I pushed it too far.

Fuck off.

Seriously, if you snap that
easily, you'll die. Again.

Again, sorry if I pushed it too far.

m4ster r0shi,

Your apology is not accepted.

Hmm... both you (Grey Wolf) and m4ster r0shi seems to be respected C++ developers in this forum so it is a bit of shock to see both of you posting vulgarities. Yes Grey Wolf, in the link you provided you did the name calling too isn't it ?

The only difference is you post it in forum public whereas m4ster r0shi choose to PM you but in all cases, this forum has a log of your vulgarities posts. Is there a need to spew (or type) vulgarities in this forum ?

The 'Fuck off' in the PM is him quoting me.

The use of language is not what I object to, they are after all just words.

I really don't know why you made this thread, from reading the thread you linked to all I can see is that you made a total dick move, if I'd PMd you after being told to fuck off my PM wouldn't be anywhere near as polite as roshi's.
Reported. No hard feelings, you two, but I think this thread is completely inappropriate.

Perhaps there's a need for a Report button for PMs.
I second moorecm's idea for a PM report button, I had to report this thread the other day because of a dodgy PM I was sent http://cplusplus.com/forum/jobs/47534/ would've been easier to just be able to report the PM.

I get the feeling that people didn't read the post properly. Wasn't it an open 'I don't accept your apology'?

I seem to have missed something here. I wont ask for details but I do hope all involved can smooth things out and keep the peace in this our hamlet among the net.

User profile: Grey Wolf
This account has limited functionality.
This was likely due to the user being reported by not following some specific rules for a service in this website.
If you believe this to be an error, please use our contact form

wtf? So he's banned now?
hmm I don't really approve of the way he conducted himself but a ban is a bit much

The account had limited functionality before anyone reported it, maybe he left.
I suspect the forum does that with enough reports until twicker can take a look.
Hmmm... What's this here?

If I knew Grey Wolf was going to do that, I really wouldn't have
problem  posting  publicly  instead  of PM-ing him  to  begin with.

EDIT: It wasn't me the one who reported him.

both users have been valuable in my learning process. i dont want to see either gone. they are both terrible helpful.
First off, since this is between Grey Wolf and me, and since we both agree that it's
ok to be in public, I believe that there is no reason for anyone to report this post.

Since it's come to this,  if I'm  allowed to,  I'd like to tell
you my side of the story in order to clear things up a bit.

The key to this misunderstanding is that I didn't know, or I pretended
not to know, what a 'build system' is, so, let's make a  branching here.

Suppose  that  I knew what a  'build system'  is.  This means that I had no
reason to disagree with Grey Wolf and I did it just to tick him off. But then,
when I saw that it went too far, I stopped and sent him a PM to apologise.

Now, suppose that I didn't know what a 'build system' is. This means that I
couldn't see the reason Grey Wolf disagreed with me. He could have told me
what it is, or at least told me to look it up, but he didn't. Instead, he decided
to reply in another way. I didn't like the way our  conversation  ended and I
decided to send him a PM to calm him down.  Now, even if the  mistake  was
his, it is always better that I take the blame  myself  instead  of acting  as a
victim when I try to calm him down.  That's why I made up a  reason  which
I  thought  could be seen as a  plausible  one, due to some  past  events...

http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/lounge/24744/6/#msg149328 <- this in particular

...followed by a spiritual advice.

Now, did I know, or did I not know what a 'build system' is? Well, that you will never know...
But remember, if I said that I didn't know, I would be seen as a victim, and that's the last thing I want.

Here's the relevant thread -> http://cplusplus.com/forum/general/47592/

And here's the relevant PM:

If this was the case, I'd say that was a stupid thing to do. Although his response wasn't needed either.

If this was the case, making up a reason like that would be quite...dumb IMO.

But remember, if I said that I didn't know, I would be seen as a victim, and that's the last thing I want.

I didn't find anything odd about your exchange (except some frustration it seemed) until we got to:

\(^o^)/

Which I have no idea how you could interpret other then "I'm being a huge dick! YAY ME!"

[quote]Seriously, if you snap that
easily, you'll die. Again.[quote]

Personally I think you could have worded this better (especially given your earlier response), but that's irrelevant now.

Could be. But how else could I make myself look like a bad guy?

firedraco wrote:

Really? Honestly, I thought he was agreeing with me saying that I need more
#ifdefs, so he gave up trying to convince me that the AFP was the way to go.

Its interpretation was meant to be similar to this one's here:
http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/general/26527/2/#msg141867
(which means "thank you for your compliment")

Nevertheless, what I wrote is true.

If that was the case, why did you reply with a 'Laughing' emoticon when told to 'F**k off'?

It looks more like he decided he was being trolled and tried backing out. Only to be met with a 'Yay, I win' post. While the response may seem OTT, the sentiment seems on the ball, especially as you would not expect that kind of behavior (trolling) from a respected member of any forum.

But then you (m4ster r0shi) further it by PMing him with a message saying (paraphrasing here) " I thought I'd take the opportunity to teach you a lesson, sorry if I took it to far." Sorry but that just reads as another slap in the face.

I think no matter how you try to justify the interaction, your side is coming out smelling more like fish than roses, it would probably be best to left sleeping dogs lie (so to speak) and move on.
Grey Wolf is gone? I have a feeling she's still around. Possibly in this very thread. :P

I found this funny so I laughed. Yeah, fuck off maybe in appropriate to some users, but not all. Fuck is generally used when he/she is aggravated, so it's expected.

Personally, I think this whole situation is stupid, resulting in a very helpful member (Grey Wolf has helped me numerous times) being banned. Master Roshi, you provoked Grey Wolf with \(^o^)/ and now look what's happened. You may have not intentionally provoked him/her, but by the looks of Grey Wolf's response, you did.
