Well, my pc have one problem with the usb on board doors. The operating system that came installed on the XP machine was, until then the USB ports on front board and worked fine, but when I installed windows 7 on the board now does not work. If it's a USB device for Linux®, then maybe your have compatibility issues.

Microsoft© Windows 7®, usually, automatically installs all required drivers for any installed hardware. However, don't rely too heavily on Windows 7's ability to find your drivers. Have you tried the boards manufacturer?

It's possible but the transfer rate won't be as high.

This is a driver issue, go to "Device Manager" under "Control Panel" and I bet you'll see some things aren't installed. Run Windows Update, go back to Device Manager, right click the device, select "Update Driver" and you should be golden. Come back if you're still having issues, I do this stuff proffesionally.
