I've just left university and have received several emails about graduate jobs, one is as a junior flash programmer and says training will be given so no experience with flash is needed. I'm considering applying, but to anyone who has programmed in flash before I'd just like opinions on the language and how fun it is to develop in compared to C++.
Depending on what you are doing I've done some flash animation in the past. It's honestly something you can pick up and run with in a week of honest effort. It's more about the art with Flash, the logic and animation stuff is pretty simplified.
Next to C++ you may find yourself wanting a little more control and a lot less hand holding.
I see, thanks Computergeek. I don't know what making flash games would entail, would I have to do the animation as well as programming the gameplay? I may still apply for this regardless, as I need a job.
It's quite easy. Essentially all of the back end is done for you. I'd go for it, until a better job comes up, at least you'll be scripting. Better than nothing!
If you plan to create games, expect lot of ActionScript programming. ActionScript is very similar to Java, although slower and the types are not explicitly given.
