I can now say that I am very ashamed with Valve for their deceitful countdown at aperturescience.com! They suggested an early release and when it was done they just redirected to a page saying they would release it early if everyone buys lots of indie games.
I can't wait for Episode 3, that's my most anticipated game right now. When it comes out I'm going to buy the entire set of Half-Life games; the ones I've played (2 & episodes 1 and 2) are the best games I've ever played by a wide margin.
Valve really do set the bar high. TF2, Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 also rank very highly to me. I also like Counter-Strike Source and Day of Defeat Source, though for some reason I didn't enjoy Portal that much.
You say you liked TF2, so I suppose you've played it? ^^
Well, I've bought it (it was in the Orange Box, together with Portal and HL2) and I'm thinking of installing it. The thing is, if I downloaded this BEAST of 10GB off of steam, I won't be watching youtube/downloading things for the rest of the month :P
So, is it worth it?
These are the types of shooters I like: Counter-Strike 1.6/source, Crysis 2, Battlefield :D
And also, is L4D2 worth it if you have L4D?
I think it's pretty good, but it's quite different from Counter Strike. if you're unsure you could always just download a few gigabytes a month and you'd get it eventually :P
I love TF2; I would say it was definitely worth installing. It's a completely different fps to most that I've played. It completely ignores the seriousness of other games, it's just fun. Also, people actually play as a team. There's not so much griefing either (since you can't shoot teammates). It's an excellent game.
L4D2 is another game that I love. The first one has much better characters but there are more weapons and more infected in 2 which makes it alot of fun on multiplayer :)
Has anyone else taken the quiz on the portal 2 site? Here's my result:
Your Aperture Science Cooperative Testing Type is:
Chell
Resolute and tenacious, you won't quit until a puzzle's solved. Your inability to give up against impossible odds makes you a bad match for cooperative test partners who give up against any odds at all, racing to the internet for answers.
Stalwart and dependable, you're always willing to give a friend the shirt off your back, a shoulder to cry on, or a step up. Compatible cooperative test partners include shirtless people who can't stop crying while they use you as stairs.
@firedraco I always thought L4D2 was more enjoyable to play actually. I didn't find L4D had enough weapons to be honest.
@Albatross No I didn't. I'm not *that* humble... I think I set myself superior to four of them.
EDIT: I probably don't actually feel superior, but I had to make it more interesting ;)
Actually I strongly distrust this quiz. I retried as superior to all and suggested abolishing environmental safety, employee safety and consumer safety, i.e. express track to being GLaDOS. I was *still* the cube!!! :S
