Just some rambling on physics
The first dimension is a point in space, the second is a line connecting two of the first, the third is a plane for these points to exist with an infinite amount of directions to travel.
Now Special relativity dictates that the faster one travels the more mass it shall have. E=MC^2 the higher the velocity the more energy it has the more mass it must have to balance the equation. That said Special relativity also states the more mass something has the slower time progresses for it. Due to the entropy of the universe there will eventually be something called the heat death, where all energy is evenly distributed across the universe and no more work can be done. With an infinite plane for the matter to be distributed, all objects will have an infinitesimal (if that) mass. Going back to the greater mass == slower time we can assume the opposite is true. And that the lower the mass the greater the speed at which time will travel. Thus time will travel at an infinite speed. With time traveling at an infinite speed, and no work being done to fork off into the fifth dimension ( a plane for another path of the 4th dimension to follow). Time will be progressing in a linear path in an infinite number of directions all of which are progressing at an infinite velocity. because of this the 6th dimension (a fold in the 5th dimension connecting multiple paths of the 4th) will be infinitely folding due to the expanding of every 4th dimensional path. The greater the path, the more points needed to be folded to cross between them. The 7th dimension (a point of infinity) will expand to encompass the multiverse (the 8th dimension) where all possible universes (with every start to the universe and every variation on how physics works) exists. Now we have a massive singularity of infinitely fast time engulfing all infinities of universes. The ninth dimension (a fold in the eighth dimension) is now infinitely folding as well the 6th was. From here we reach the 10th dimension. Because of the heat death in our insignificant little universe we have engulfed every single possibly universe and every single possible end to each of those universes into one, massive, inconceivably rapidly progressing one. the 10th dimension is all of what can, has and will ever be. Every possibility, an absolute infinity of all infinities, is now completely engulfed by our one infinity of possibilities. The 10th dimension is now a singularity of our one universe.
I'm sure someone far more intelligent has figured this all out but Uhh if anyone who has physics training want's to let me know if I'm going in the right direction with this train of thought that would be splendid.
I'm not trying to figure out anything revolutionary, I've got no numbers to work with nor the math training/physics training. This kind of stuff fascinates me and it was fun to think about. I'm just wondering how far off base I am with my logic...

*UPDATE* Upon rethinking about this I don't think this makes any sense at all :O no bother, I'm far from a physicist, it was just a fun thought to entertain.

Should string theory work, then all you need to do is fold the fifth dimension across the fourth and you will have traveled through time...i guess it could be done in the lineage you want, all thing considered.

(Btw on a slightly related note: yesterday I was at a lecture by a mathematician who came up with a model predicting the Higgs boson mass; he was working in 4 dimensions only (3 for space and one for time)).

Parts of it resembled actual science, but yeah I am pretty sure most of that was completely made up.
Watch that video I posted. This is all assuming that string theory is right. That video explains it in pretty simple terms. I posted that video because I didnt feel like posting an entire 3 part special from the science channel.

Now, I'm not denying that it makes no sense. I just don't think it does for the same reasons as you.
And again this is all based on the validity of string theory.

String theory is one thing, but I am pretty sure it doesn't work the way you posted.
I'm pretty sure i'm way off with the expanding thing, I wasn't sure where I was going with it anyways. But should string theory be correct we have at least 10 dimensions

I think I'm going to hold off buying a new Honda Civic until they add this as a feature. Though I will need to see what kind of gas mileage it gets first.
