just tested out the Fedora 15 alpha....and....I'm speachless....Gnome 3.0 is horrible...can't believe it...dare I say it: worse than KDE 4.0

KDE4 was released too early, Gnome 3 is just broken by design..it's sad.

Really? I was actually looking forward to GNOME 3... if you're telling me it's worse than KDE 4 it must be really terrible.
What was so terrible about it? Do try to explain, because I'm not even going to try and virtualize Linux on this piece of proprietary silicon.
EDIT: After watching a few videos, it strikes me as a hybrid between Windows 7's default DE and OS X... that's actually pretty good as long as they kept the customizability of GNOME 2...

I have tried the Gnome shell which will replace the gnome panel and it really sucks.
What with the Gnome 2 panel takes a single click with Gnome 3 shell takes like 4 clicks.
And when I tried it wasn't customizable at all, but that was quite a few months ago.
I hope distros will keep support for Gnome 2

A long time ago, I fooled around with Gnome-Shell (Ubuntu 9.10 or so),at that point I was actually looking forward to it, but since then the user interface has been constantly getting stripped down and made even less usuable. Even more so since Ubuntu declared they were ditching Gnome for Unity, to what it is at today...getting ready to be included in Fedora...what a shame.

Maybe once I'm done exams I'll do a blog post and breakdown why it's so bad. It'll also be officially released by then so it'll be a fair review.
Yeah as I recall gnome3 was brutal.. i'll see how it goes but im looking forward to unity to put on my ubuntu box :D

The Ubuntu 11.04 beta just came out, and I installed it on my laptop. Absolutely fantastic what they've done with Unity, way better than the craptastic Gnome Shell. Natty is going to be the best Ubuntu yet

I'm using Gnome 3 as we speak. I must say that it's pretty beautiful. The only thing I don't like about is there being no minimize button on window instances (which I fixed by setting a button on my mouse (middle button) to minimize).

I have to say that the interface looks amazing. The home screen with the icons is very beautiful.

From what I've heard, GNOME 3 is significantly more stable than Unity at the moment. Isn't that in itself a reason to go for GNOME over Unity?

I am not related (as far as I know.. The Lund family is rather large and there are branches we're still discovering (usually by accident)).

Yea, I really should. But hell, I didn't do anything wrong in the first place. Basically, my first girlfriend was using me to get to my best friend, who was dating someone then and is still with her now. He told me this (with lots of evidence) after she (my first girlfriend) dumped me, and I called her on it.
Well, no one but me and my best friend knew the whole story, and all anyone saw was me chewing out their friend. To be honest? The girl i asked if computerquip was related to is the only one who still hates me. Everyone else got over it. But meh, no loss there. The only reason I still know her name is because she's an old friend of my two closest friends. I'm so very glad I've left highschool drama behind me.
Aaaannnnyways. How bout them gnomes and such.
