Forum changes

The forum has just been updated!
Some new features have been added, and a few minor bugs have been corrected.
Still, many parts of the code have had to be entirely rewritten, so this has probably created some new bugs... Please, report them!

I like the icon to show the threads I have been involved in. :0)

Will mooch around a bit...I want to click on the report button to see what happens...

Do you want us to report errors here or via 'spotted an error'?

Edit:
New edit and delete buttons...

I also changed the contact form, and it appears not to be working properly yet... so, either here or PM me, for now
Public profiles are not showing and cannot be edited.

Okay, I'll post 'features' here for now so others can comment if they have the same error or not.

The Articles section seems to be broken.

404 when trying to PM you. :0(

Why the weird url on the user profile? http://www.cplusplus.com/user/Ey60RXSz/
The link to the user profile on the left ( the one below Forum ) is broken. It doesn't direct to your own profile
And the Report button on your own posts is quite weird
And the link to post button has been removed

And this is not a bug but may be a problem:
Threads with multiple pages have changed urls from .../ThreadID/pageX.html to .../ThreadID/X, this will break lots of links in old posts

When I put my cursor over the report button abusive is spelled "abussive". My spelling is poor but I believe that is an incorrect spelling.
I see some New Page and Edit Page buttons I shouldn't see.
If I click those I get "ACCESS DENIED"

Pages on which such buttons appear:
http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/
http://www.cplusplus.com/info/
http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/

And the character encoding has changed.
This breaks some posts which were using non-ASCII characters

Privacy policy links to a blank page: http://www.cplusplus.com/privacy.do

All the links in the 404 are broken and they link to the wrong page itself eg: http://www.cplusplus.com/qwertyuiop

I wrote a reply earlier and the post and pre increment operator didn't show once it was submitted although it showed in the preview.

I also appear to be able to delete some posts that aren't mine

I don't think that the notification of PM's is working. Have had an icon up by [user cp].

I don't seem to be able to edit my public profile, I get an 'This feature is only available to moderators' error.

Same, I also see delete on the reference section pages, have not clicked to see what happens.

Edit:
Deleting PMs leads to 'you are not authorised to do this message.

This is just a pet peeve, but the bottom ad is too close to the "Tracking options for this topic:" line. I think a small space like the one underneath the ad would be nice.

EDIT: the post count doesn't seem to be updating when you post, only when you come back to the thread.

EDIT 2: there's a report button available to report one's own posts, which might be unnecessary.

New user posts? I think that was the whole idea.

So far I like the changes. I like the new icons and really find the pages thing visually appealing. Somebody has been busy!
New user posts? I think that was the whole idea.

Indeed, but we can only delete their posts if it's in the old "deleteable" position (last post in the thread), which is somewhat limiting (if anyone feeds a troll, and there's always someone willing to feed them - I'm looking at you, Albatross :) -, all its previous posts will be locked).
The preview button on compose PM page has gone

And shows Private Messages (0) even if you have unread messages.

If I click on inbox button under a PM I get ERROR Bad arguments ( http://www.cplusplus.com/user/pm.cgi?w=list )
( the link should be w=inbox )

Awesome twicker I like a lot of the changes!

One thing that I noticed, is if you click reply to something in your PM outbox, you will reply to yourself instead of the conversational partner.
@filipe:
Excuse me?

@twicker:
I like a lot of the changes, and for the purposes of daily forum browsing I haven't encountered any bugs. Thank you for the time and effort spent on this forum!

EDIT: Actually, there are one or two. Maybe three.
*I had problems editing my own profile at one point, stating I needed moderator powers.
*I also had problems creating a new thread, after I clicked on the button in the lounge section by accident.
*At one point, I had problems editing my own post (this one).

EDIT2: The last two problems were rectified after I logged out and logged back in. I think the log out feature on the "Access Denied" page is what caused them (I was automatically logged back in, probably due to Safari being nonsensical ;) ).

EDIT3: Side-by-side code/output no longer works.

EDIT4: All of them appear to have been fixed. Wow, he's fast! <3

Is it just me... or has the post back ground color changed?

works for me :^/
I've been working on some of these issues...

Why the weird url on the user profile? http://www.cplusplus.com/user/Ey60RXSz/

This is a deliberate change. There was some abuse by a recent troll. But you can still use a vanity url like http://www.cplusplus.com/user/Bazzy/ - it is simply no longer linked to within the site.

And the Report button on your own posts is quite weird

Indeed. But, in the past, there have been some cases of users reporting their own posts asking for their removal.

Threads with multiple pages have changed urls from .../ThreadID/pageX.html to .../ThreadID/X, this will break lots of links in old posts

They should redirect accordingly now.

I also appear to be able to delete some posts that aren't mine

This is how the new community ban feature is supposed to work: Users who meet certain criteria become trusted users, and trusted users can "delete" posts of new users. If two such posts of a same user are deleted, that user account is automatically suspended.
A moderator is notified when this happens, and it can easily be reverted if it seems unfair.

One thing that I noticed, is if you click reply to something in your PM outbox, you will reply to yourself instead of the conversational partner.

Hmm... That's what my email program does too if I reply to a sent message, but maybe that doesn't make too much sense...

The rest has been fixed or I'm in the process of fixing. Try forcing a reload of the pages (with ctrl or shift) to refresh the javascript if weird things still happen.

Interesting...
Quite interesting...
...at the time of posting it didn't work for me. All well!
