I don't see why we should treat people who need assistance with their homework any differently to any other poster, as long as they have made a genuine attempt and post their code to show it then why deem them less worthy of help?
I totally agree with quirkyusername, as long as the poster seems to be genuinely trying why not help him/her.
Just like scarlettmoon I'm a student too, I love programming, but sometimes concepts just don't sink in. Sometimes people just need a helping hand, have some sympathy! :)
Having said that I in no way condone posts like this:
hey,
can someone please help me to solve all this stuff, i have no idea what to do so PLEASE !!!
I think that the fault in most cases is that universities aren't exposing the students to computer science concepts in the correct order, or not at an in-depth enough level
I would think it would be horrible if everything would be taught step by step in universities. IMHO universities are NOT extended schools or something, but a place you only go to when you are genuinely trying to learn something about the subject. And in that case, expecting students to do some practice and research themselves is definitely not asking for too much.
