While sitting in my CS class I noticed that no one else in the room seemed to have any sort of body art (tattoos/piercings) other than myself. I had my lip pierced about a year and a half ago.
Are there any programmers on here that have piercings and/or tattoos?
I have some Latin text on forearms: Veritas Aequitas . Separately, the two words mean verity (or truth) and equality (or fairness/justice). Together the phrase represents the way that I try to live my life.

If by body art you mean scars, then I've got plenty... ;p I was in the Marine Corps, but opted out of getting one. They couldn't get me drunk enough. "Now" they could, but my body isn't exactly what it used to be.
.. edit: oh, I have psoriasis too... I'm working on getting rid of that though.
I don't really like them. My friend has a couple that I quite like but generally I don't like tattoos. I can't stand the ones that look, to me, like an indecipherable mess of ink.
Both of my sisters have tattoos -- and one of my sisters used to have tongue and lip piercings (but she grew out of that and they've sealed up -- although she has a visible scar where the lip piercing used to be).
I guess I just think it's nuts. The whole idea of intentionally scarring / poking holes through your flesh is just crazy to me.
Personally, I got my lip piercing because I do feel that it looks pretty good. I have been considering taking it out for that whole "joining the corporate world" type thing. I don't plan to get any tattoos mostly because I have seen a lot of older tattoos after they've stretched and smeared.

Yeah I would recommend you take it out once you start working. Many companies have policies that require you to cover tattoos and remove piercings and going to an interview with one is generally frowned upon. I guess it just depends on the company... you might find one that doesn't mind. Typically this rule will apply to any customer facing position. This of course doesn't apply to game development companies :).
