I'm with Bazzy here. We can use the ban to fix major problems such as what we had the other day. Minor things like "do my work plz" and such have been handled fine in the past - just ask for some code, and leave it at that.
First of all, profanity of any sort has no place on the forum. It only serves to discredit the poster and I assure you no one is impressed. Second, "death threats" are ok? Give me a break;
Whoah, I think you understood what I meant. All I was saying was that someone should get one warning before we ban them, but no more than that. Of course we still need to use good judgement. I wouldn't ban any of you for threatening Spoon Licker.
Mainly I think if someone should be banned it should be blatantly obvious. I cani't think of anyone other than Spoon Licker.
I seriously hoping that you're kidding me, PanGalactic. "Stick up their ass"? You couldn't come up with anything more original? :/
Seriously, though... should we decide what constitutes a bannable offense, or should we go with our common sense like at least I do with the Report button?
Why can't we just have our own individual ignore user option? That way, people who get annoyed by SpoonLicker can just put them on their own black list and act like he doesn't exist, and those who like to laugh at how people can be so stupid can continue to do so?
Leave the old "Report User" stuff in place, and mods can step in when things get a little out of hand, but being able to just add someone to my own personal blacklist is easy, non-intrusive and doesn't rely on the 'common sense' of other users to make decisions for me.
One thing that I'm wondering. Does this bother twicker at all? I mean we can talk about blacklisting and community banning all we want, but at the end of the day it's just not our decision...
As fas as I remember all the changes to the forums which were proposed by some user and agreed by many others have always been implemented so far.
I remember 3/4 threads on suggestions for new features / bug reports

I'm for this, assuming that by mods you mean twicker, (and have been since the beginning of the thread).

The forum has got to be able to control the likes of spoon lickers last out burst. Sticking your head in the sand and pretending that it is not going on will only help you not the community as a whole. I'm not say that we shouldn't each have a shit-list, that would also be a nice idea for those not willing/able to moderate.
Good moderators would not spoil the forum and I doubt twicker would give the privileges to anyone who he didn't think would make a good moderator.

You saw his post stating that he would implement the ban option and even answered...
I agree with you though, I'd like to add something to formulate it a bit better: reason and knowledge do go hand in hand a lot of times, but they are not necessarily paired.
