2011

The new year is upon us, and we have less than two years until the NSA (No Such Apocalypse) destroys us all. That said, what are our plans for 2011? Viable plans? Wishful thinkings?

I'm really hoping that I'm going to get at least one of my noteworthy projects done this year. I had to put several of them on hold due to more work toward the end of the year, but for the first half of 2011, I predict that it'll be a bit less insane (I seriously hope so, anyways).

Post 11 more times real quick.
Wow, I missed you guys. It's been a year since I last visited.

It has also been a year since I last ate. I'm hungry.
@chrisname
What's the point of having 4011 posts? Why not 4012? At least it divides by 4.

@Duoas
Funny, I saw you a few minutes ago. Guess I have to wait three hours more for it to be a year...

I plan to finish a few personal projects this year and focus more heavily on my school work. I also want to get a six pack this year but I've been saying this for past couple of years so I guess this qualifies as wishful thinking!!!!! ~~

I'm also going to be tutoring this year so I hope this is alot of fun. Looking forward to this.

EDIT: I also want to work on reading more books this year. I read a lot of Elizabethan/Victorian/Romantic literature this past year and I plan to read more of these classic novels.

And Happy New Year's everyone!!!! :)

@Duoas
You remind me of a school teacher who always did this, especially during a lecture. During the Christmas time he would talk about how we would do X, Y, and Z next year and the class was always baffled not knowing if he means the upcoming year or next school year. He got a kick out of it. lol.

But yes, same here, it's been a year since I last ate and I'm hungry. Time for some hot wings!

@Albatross
Nice and does these projects include the language you've been working on?

@notthedriver
That's included, yes. Thanks for the excuse to make another post! :P

@Albatross
I'm trying to think of the opposite of Albatross but as you can imagine, it's quite hard. lol. But I love notthedrive, I hope you don't mind me stealing this. ;)

And btw, hope you have a joyous and prosperous New Year. :)
My hopes for this year are to move closer into a purely Computer Scientist role with a focus on AI and Simulations and further away from Business Systems.

Happy New Year! Here's to another great year on cplusplus.com

Funny cause I don't have any plans.
also happy new decade.

A year late, aren't you?
O: I've always considered 1 to be the start of the decade, multiple people have said I'm wrong. xD
Somehow I feel that the year immediately after the start of a new decade is more important and turns out better (for me) than the actual start of the new decade. Just an unrelated thought.

I just assumed programmers would figure the years were zero based, since it's more logical that way.

After all, the centuries are zero based (this is the 21st century, even though it's 20xx)

I plan to do the same thing as I did in 2010, which was the same thing I did in 2009, which was the same thing I did in...

It's kind of sad, but it's worked for me so far. Maybe your NSA can break my cycle :P
Um... actually, the centuries are not 0-based, are they? There was no 0th century...

The 0th century happened at year 0, which existed in an infinitesimally narrow time. By the time year 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000001 rolled around, we were in the 1st century. Or at least that makes sense to me right now.

But 21st century started January 1, 2001. (Or I just didn't understand your words.)

Is year 2000 a start of a new decade? I guess this is right because most people name decade like 80s, 90s, but I'd like to imagine that when a new century enters, a new decade also comes. 2001-2010, therefore 2011 is a new decade. But of course this is considered wrong and should not be answered in exams right?

Happy new year all!!

My understanding for the seeming off-by-one century count is this:
Years 1-99 = 1st century.
Year 100 = start of 2nd century.
