UNIX newbie

Intro to UNIX OS - I am new to UNIX. Does anyone know how I can get access to a free public UNIX shell? Start reading the C Primer text today, and will I like to practice the sample programs as I progress. Need an experienced programmer assistance.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. You can install Cygwin on Windows if you don't want to install a whole new operating system yet. Alternatively, you could play around with something in a virtual machine. I would recommend messing with more than one. Try a variant of Linux (SliTaz is quite small, but fully functional), one of BSD (NetBSD is a good one - it will work on pretty much any computer (including a toaster)) as well as Minix and OpenSolaris.
