lighttpd
I don't know if I'm too late but I remember a few months back developers were asking for a light-weight HTTP server with low memory foot-print and I suggest Apache HTTP Server. It was a bad advice.
Recently I read from some books on an alternative. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lighttpd is that. I have not used it but it seems to be very focused on being lean and mean.
Just want to share.
