So what are some weird things you guys have eaten and not like any exotic food that might be part of traditional meal in a different geographic region. For example, today I was driving my car and had a sandwich wrapped inside aluminum foil. I was concentrating on the road and accidentally bit of a piece of foil along with my sandwich and unknowingly swallowed it.
Anyways, I was curious what weird things you guys have accidentally (maybe not?) eaten?
Yesterday my son informed me he had eaten a pillbug when he was younger. (He heard something about people eating bugs and wanted to try it out.) He doesn't eat bugs anymore. :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armadillidiidae
My youngest son watched the iguana eat a Calla Lily flower leaf, so he ate one also. His mouth burned for a couple hours.
I don't know about West countries but here in Southeast Asia, we do eat the animals innards. Like say pig intestines, liver etc. Insects delicacy is not prevalent in my country but they are in other Southeast Asia countries.
That's actually pretty common. In the Americas we call intestines "tripe" (from the French word for the same thing). Menudo is tripe in soup. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menudo_%28soup%29
Liver is also common.
Things like brains, hock, tongue, etc. are less common in the USA as in latin countries, but they are still eaten.
In the USA a fad some years ago was chocolate-covered <insert insect name here>.
I've eaten rose petals and grass before. I think I ate the grass because I wanted to be able to produce milk (I thought that was how cows worked). I don't know why I ate a rose petal. I tend to eat paper, cotton, my hair, my skin (around my finger nails and the insides of my cheeks), nails, and I used to pick my nose when I was younger.
@Disch,
I'm intrigued as to what sexual things can actually involve ingestion. Licking/sucking/etc., sure, and I suppose there are some male/female bodily fluids that you could eat, but I don't see what else there is that you can swallow, unless you're into... well... unconventional stuff.
@thepedestrian
As sushi. At least I think. I'm not sure what sashimi is.
@Browni3141
I ate an acorn once, in 4th grade my friend "double dog dared me" lmao. It was nasty. Afterwards, for reasons unknown, i thought it'd help to wash out with soap. Turns out soap didn't taste too good either. ^^
As for another gross thing I've tried: My dad's likings of pinto beans. Which consist of a pot of beans completely destroyed with vinegar, onions, and various meats. I can't even walk in the room when he makes it.
