A lot of people in the UK petitioned to have the Pope arrested for crimes against humanity[1]. This, I agree with. Strongly.
But our government, in it's infinite wisdom, has passed a law saying that we can't arrest him. So, not only do tax payers get to pay for his visit out of their tax money (regardless of their religion), but we can't even arrest him for being an evil bastard.
Stupid government.

In 2001, while he was Cardinal Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI issued a secret Vatican edict to all Catholic bishops. It recommended that instead of reporting child sex abusers to the police, bishops should report them to the Vatican and encourage the victims to take an oath to not talk about the abuse they suffered. To keep victims quiet, the Pope warned that if they broke their oath and repeated the sex abuse allegations they should be excommunicated.
Anti-religion again, makes a change from the Anti-C++/Pro Scala/X is better than Y bullshit that has been floating to the surface of the once tranquil pond.
@Seraphimsan,
It's like what I was saying about religious morality in another thread. It doesn't work. Certain people seem to have this blanketing view that all atheists are amoral and incapable of empathy. But I think they are wrong. If you get your morals from a book which endorses rape, stoning, murder and other such wholesome activities, and one which is the primary source of a religion that covers up child sexual abuse, you're doing it wrong.
@Grey Wolf,
It isn't anti-religion, my problem with the Pope isn't specifically with his religion, the reason I hate the Pope is because he threatened children who were victims of abuse of trust/power and sexual abuse with excommunication (essentially, "You've been raped and we're all very sorry. Now keep your mouth shut or you can fuck off to hell"). The image of the Catholic Church was more important to him than justice and the well-being of other humans. Those kids will likely never forget what happened to them and the Pope gets off scott-free because he has diplomatic immunity. I wish I could add, "It's just been revoked!" but I can't.
The Pope is not a good person, and not someone I would want to be the official messenger of the Christian god (if that god existed, that is).
Great. So not only does he let his clergy get away with child rape, he's also responsible for the deaths of the Younglings!
You're right, really. That is why although I consider myself an athiest, I could believe in some kind of creator god. But if there was one, it would be a deistic, not a theistic, god. I suppose that makes me an agnostic athiest. "Secular humanist" works well enough for me, though, because I get to explain why secular humanism > religious humanism.
A quote I really like goes like this:

I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours
