I guess it doesn't have any more than FM radio... but they're generally more obnoxious.
Like that hotmail one:
"Hello, New Busy! Keeping busy eating a delicious snowcone. Are you too busy to dance around the room a little?" I hate that that commerical. I want to punch that lady every time I hear it.
Awww... I miss musicmatch jukebox - Radio On Demand and Yahoo Music Jukebox Radio On Demand...
I heard thousands of new cool tracks that were offered, and I was able to rate them so the music they will offer to me was refined... I loved it... even if there was a small funny commercial break from the Us after 3 tracks...
But fucking Rhapsody brought it down and now its only available in the US-.-'...
All I have left is nothin exvept from shitradio-stations like last.fm or usual internet radios... but thats nothin compared to the former two:(...
@Disch,
You could always get a portable music player. They're not expensive (unless you buy an ipod; but then you'd be asking to have your money taken away from you).
play instrumentals such as those by Kenny G or Joe Satriani... when u get bored of the repeated songs.
Though i never personally listen to Kenny G as that is what is continuously played at work...and made me bored of it... in quite low volume and we can actually hear it only in the washroom... so those who didnt knew it went on to call it as "Toilet Music".
Think your self lucky. Where I work there is a company wide ban on using headphones and also a ban on playing music in the offices. I work in an office on my own in a part of the building not many people 'visit', so often a little stir crazy listening to the fans of my workstation.
I can't see wearing headphones being a good idea in any office environment that involves answering phones.... which is just about all of them -- at least all the ones I've seen... but then again I haven't really seen any programming jobs.
Or has a PA system, or any other kind of audible communication =P
So yeah.. a ban on headphones makes sense to me. We don't explicitly have one here, but I still wouldn't consider wearing any.
I suppose I could hook up my music player to the office speakers, but then everyone would have to listen to my music, and I'm not sure if that'd be appreciated =P

Agreed. It also lets me ignore idiots on buses since I can pretend I can't hear them.
"Pretend"? You mean you really can hear other people when listening to music?
Can you use literal headphones (not earphones, like the iPod ones) and sort of keep half of your ear out of them? That should mask the sound of the fan while letting you hear your surroundings.
Is the ban on music intended to include any sound coming out of speakers, such as noise? Brown noise is great at masking, and kinda sounds like a waterfall.
It is the usual one or two idiots spoiling it for the rest. One guy in the factory nearly got hit by a forklift because he didn't hear it, another failed to respond to an alarm on a machine. They issued a ban for wearing them in the factory and someone there said it was not fair so they got banned everywhere.
