Yes, by <sadMac> I was thinking of the Sad mac Icon with Hex codes. The 'You need to restart' overlay automatically logs the relevant data (via PRAM on reboot). Showing this info to the user is not very helpful and any good admin would know where to find the info in the logs (or at least know how to find out where to find it).
Yes, but if the system consistently crashes, you won't be able to read the log files to find out what happened because the system will crash. Oh well...
I hope I didn't give the impression I was some sort of Windows fanboy. I'm not. I actually like Linux and most if not all of my code compiles for it (and other flavors of UNIX). What I don't like is the people who treat it as a flawless piece of engineering, or a panacea that can heal all computer-related ailments. It has many problems that must be dealt with before it can become popular among non-technical users, and they won't go away by covering your ears and going "lalalala! I can't hear you!" The sad part is that the community seems more interested in "freedom" than usability. That's something else I can chalk up to RMS (it's a sort of pastime, for me).
To summarize, I speak as if I hate Linux because I love it.

Well, no, you don't.

Hey; I've more than once criticized Linux; but I do think it is... well... "better" than windows in many ways. But I suppose it's "better" in the same way that a knife wound is usually better than a gunshot wound. Eventually something even better will come along. The problem is that with windows being the giant it is and microsoft being the marketing geniuses they are (that much I can give them; same goes for apple) it's very unlikely that anything is going to kick them off their thrones for a long time. OSX seems to be the only real threat to windows right now...
Also, wasn't Panacea one of the Greek god Asklepios' daughters? You like your Greek gods, don't you?
Asklepios (the god of healing) had two daughters, Hygeia and Panacea. I forget what exactly they did; it was something to do with going in an "Asklepion" (a temple of Asklepios, or a temple of healing) and healing people.
