iTunes... is bad

I just got an iPod nano for some music and tried to use iTunes. My purchases I made from about 2 years ago are gone from my purchased list. That's about $50 worth of music gone because Apple feels like it. Support goes down the moment I try to call them @ 5:15 PM. I guess I'll call them. I'd also like to add that most of the iTunes features are in such awkward positions, its simply ridiculous for a large-end corporation to provide such CRAPPY software and give such troubling matters. I could create something better from a homemade application here in my goddamn house but they can't make something with their bloated ass corporation? I declare blasphemy and I officially announce that Apple is worse than Microsoft. There should be a universal interface for MP3 players instead of narrowing integration to the iPod standard. I will NEVER buy an iPod again or from Apple.

Mac, and all things apple for that matter, is like shaving with a bowling pin. I've felt this way since I started learning about computers. and I to this day feel that way.

Edit: typographical error

I'm waaay ahead of you, my friend...

Diddums.
So let me get this straight. You're angry because Apple discontinued a few songs that you purchased and didn't save on a hard disk and then had some trouble getting through to technical support?

@Albatross.

You're a Mac-user. Aren't you? :D
Flame war commencing in 10...9...8...7...
I will happily use any relatively well-designed mostly UNIX compliant system, but that's irrelevant. Am I right or did I misunderstand something?

EDIT: It's not completely irrelevant. I'm defending Apple because they have one of the better UNIX-compilant OSes in their possession.

Free BSD through and through over here.
Was just wondering :P *deserts the flame war*

Of course not. I'm mad that most radios and certain systems are only compatible with iPod standards. I'm mad that there iTunes system isn't as slack as it should be despite me chunking money at it. I'm mad that iTunes is bad despite an entire corporation backing it. I'm angry that Apple is turning into another Windows except worse. They're OS costs a lot of money which you chunk at it despite it being similar to any Unix-like OS with a few more vulnerabilities than a vanilla Linux kernel (which I believe was explained somewhere, I'll look for it). How many people say, "Oh, I love my Mac!"? And how often do you see them trying to figure out how to do something specific like edit user accounts via the provided GUI (which is similar to most other OSes) and have trouble (not that you wouldn't have a similar problem in any OS). Linux does the same thing, except provides a convenient two-mouse button system and is completely free. MacOS is just another friggin' Windows hidden under an edited Unix-like cover.

Right... right... okay, not right.

I'm mad that most radios and certain systems are only compatible with iPod standards.
Maybe. Okay. If that's true, then many other systems should also be compatible with iPod standards, including non-iPod devices... maybe?

I'm mad that there iTunes system isn't as slack as it should be despite me chunking money at it.
iTunes may not be very slack, I wouldn't know because I personally never use it.

I'm mad that iTunes is bad despite an entire corporation backing it.
That's also possible, again, I never use it.

I'm angry that Apple is turning into another Windows except worse.
Calm the rabbits down, and call me in the morning. If you're so angry that you cannot differentiate an operating system from a corporation while you're typing at whatever speed...

They're OS costs a lot of money which you chunk at it despite it being similar to any Unix-like OS with a few more vulnerabilities than a vanilla Linux kernel
Admittedly KDE and GNOME lead the way with innovations regarding interfaces, and Mac OS X is slightly less secure than a pure Linux kernel with sudo.

How many people say, "Oh, I love my Mac!"? And how often do you see them trying to figure out how to do something specific like edit user accounts via the provided GUI
I haven't seen many people like the ones you're describing.

Linux does the same thing, except provides a convenient two-mouse button system
Um... Mac OS X mouses are all two-button mouses. You need to enable the feature separately, but it is there.

MacOS is just another friggin' Windows hidden under an edited Unix-like cover.
That I must protest. Max OS X is a fairly secure operating system that is a) stable b) much more secure, and c) doesn't slow down nearly as much over time as most Windows systems seem to.

Admittedly, Mac OS X is no shining angelic OS that trumps all others... FreeBSD is apparently another decent operating system, I hear (which I will have to look into). However, just because Apple is now worth more than Microsoft doesn't mean it's worse.

"I don't like it therefore it's bad."

Utter tosh! You don't like it, so what?

Calling something bad is my opinion. Same as saying I don't like it, which is also my opinion. It doesn't mean it is bad Grey Wolf. Saying something isn't bad because I like to state my opinion and try to give reasons why I don't like it isn't much of an argument.

How many people say, "Oh, I love my Mac!"? And how often do you see them trying to figure out how to do something specific like edit user accounts via the provided GUI

Really? Every fudgin' time I see anyone over the age of 40, I see it. My parents, my friends' parents, my teachers, etc..

Also, I didn't mean that MacOS didn't have a two-button system, I meant that I support the common two-button system over the one-button. More often than not, people will switch to the one-button system when they get their Mac for reasons much beyond me. I actually don't personally know a single mac user that doesn't use the one-button system. I have used it and I simply do not like it. I was just teasing it :/

By being a Windows, I meant as a greedy son-of-a-gun over the actual usefulness of the OS. For instance, MacOS is considered more secure but most fail to give a reason why it is more secure. I do know people that talk about viruses becoming more common place on Mac and blame it on MacOS becoming more used. A lot of people believe that this is also the reason why Linux is secure, HOWEVER, I believe this isn't true. Linux is very used in the server marketplace over MacOS and is used for its security and stableness. I still don't see where you would want to use MacOS over Linux but I guess the extra babying on tech support is easier on some. The ONLY reason I use Windows is for games. If Linux ever became marketplace for games, I would absolutely NEVER touch Windows again. Mac neither has the advantage of being free or the gaming marketplace so I fail to see why I would want to use it.

Solution A: Buy the music files, then throw them away and pirate them.
Solution B: The analog hole.

I will conclude this post by stating my disapproval of all things that feature a bitten apple, with the possible exception of my right hand, and my disappointment with the lack of proper flaming and/or trolling in this thread.

@helios:
I'm not one to troll those GNU/Linux idiots who are all idiots simply because they use GNU/Linux, which is by default idiotic and only for bird-brains.

...that was pathetic. I am NEVER stooping that low again.

@computerquip
Anyways, to prove anything to me using a statistic of any form, you need to have either a reputation in my eyes which is exceedingly hard to get, or provide a link to said statistic. The statistic in question is
Linux is very used in the server marketplace over MacOS
.

You are entitled to your opinion, you can even state your opinion. In that vein, I just stated my opinion of your opinion.

Who said anything like that?
He merely expanded upon the subject of "opinions". Nothing directed to anyone.

So.. </flame off> everyone? :D

I just don't care for any Apple products overall due to their efficiency and usage - which comes closes to zero (in my opinion) compared to other products. :)

I hate apple, more than I hate microsoft. OSX is a fairly good OS, it is true, but
1. OSX is like the PS3 of the operating systems world: it has no original games. Almost all games are written for windows, because 90% of the market belongs to microsoft. I don't like it either, but that's how it is.
2. OSX is slower, less powerful and yet more expensive than FreeBSD or Linux (especially with Arch Linux's x86 and x86_64 optimizations)
3. Linux runs on everything you see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_supported_architectures
and FreeBSD runs on everything seen here: http://www.freebsdwiki.net/index.php/FreeBSD_Platforms
OSX runs on x86, maybe x86_64, and (used to run on) PowerPC (but not any more AFAIK).
4. Linux and FreeBSD are both open source and free, whereas only part of OSX is open source (the part that's Darwin, also known as the part that's derived from FreeBSD)

Edit: This isn't a flame, by the way; it's merely an opinion. I actually think OSX is better than windows (not that I would use either given the choice) but there you go.

Also, I suppose my first argument (about games) is now pretty much redundant: all of Valve's games (i.e. the only games on PC I like, with the exception of GTA 4 which is pretty anal-retentive about being pirated and has now decided that the disk I paid £40 for in 2008 is illegal) are now available on OSX and will soon be ported to Linux too.
