Linux loadable kernel modules

I already know how, I just don't know what.

What could I write a Linux LKM to do? Things like filesystems have already been done and I was looking for something "easy". I can't think of anything...

Ideas?

They're typically used for device drivers as opposed to building the driver directly into the kernel itself.
I know, but I'm bored. I was just asking for ideas.

As it happens, I stumbled across something describing how to turn the motherboard's speaker on and off so I'm going to play with that.

It works: http://www.mediafire.com/file/nzmdmjmzzmj/arpeggiate.tar.bz2

Note: does anyone know what the highest frequency for the PC speaker is that is safe? I got to 4200 Hz and it was so high-pitched I thought "This thing's gonna explode" and killed the process. What frequency can it get to and still be safe?

At 4452 your brain implodes.

Unless it is really old hardware, you cannot hurt the PC speaker.
