Nothing is "wrong" with it; I just prefer PNG alot. I also think it's interesting that JPEG is supposed to be "the format" for compression but my PNGs were smaller, with the default settings in GIMP.
It all depends on the source data. PNG performs better with images with large regions of solid color, such as what would be generated by a computer, while JPEG performs better with natural sources, where solid colors are unlikely and quality loss is harder to notice. JPEG results also depend on the encoder used and the parameters passed to it.
