GTA IV

Who else loves this game? I think it's excellent:
+ Liberty City at night is very pleasing on the eye
+ From a programmer's point of view; the new game engine is amazing.
+ The plot (so far, as I only really started playing it yesterday) is actually very good (and they kept the unfunny sexual references to a minimum this time)
+ The gameplay is very nice. The civilians are realistically animated and the AI is brilliant. The guns are balanced and the sound effects are nice. I can't really judge how realistic the car handling is because I've never driven; but I'd guess they're pretty good.
+ The characters aren't 2-dimensional or overdone and the voice acting is good.
+ I haven't really noticed any bugs in this one. San Andreas had a few bugs where textures would go crazy and sometimes objects could intersect
+ It's not as big as San Andreas. San Andreas was kind of overdone. Having to exercise, eat and change clothes regularly was irritating.

Having said that, there is one major flaw:
- No freakin' planes.
My favourite thing to do in San Andreas was to grab a WWII plane and do dogfights with the air force. In GTA IV the closest you can get to a war plane is a helicopter that has some overpowered miniguns. It's still fun to fly around murdering the innocent if you can find one; but I miss having jets... Maybe some modder will find a way to put jets back in the game (I guess if you changed the handling of the helicopter and replaced the texture, model and sound appropriately you could do it).

I think it was really good but the missions didn't really have any variation. It always go here, possibly kill stuff, go somewhere else. There were occasional good missions but most of them were just cookie cutter stuff. And not having planes was annoying too.

I dunno, in SA I never had to exercise after the first couple gym visits, and eating wasn't really a problem for me. And I never changed clothes after the first shop visit (maybe once to put on a lot of green crap).

??? How could you have played the game but not driven. >_> I don't get that...

Yeah, I suppose some of the missions have been a little boring; but I really do like the story so far. It was pretty cool when they car-bombed Roman's apartment and cab depot.

Ah; I changed clothes all the time.

Lol; I meant in real life :P You have to drive to Hove Beach on the first mission, remember?

Not in real life it isn't. You step foot in that city and you have a 50% chance of death, mugging, or rape... or grand theft auto... As a teenager I remember taking a wrong turn and ending up in Liberty City... I even stopped at a gas station for directions... that didn't go well.
What?
Nevermind... I had not played this game and assumed it was based on the actually city Libery City in Florida which is one of the worst in the country, turns out it's not. When the game was released there was a lot of contraversy down here from the Liberty City community that the game portrayed the city in a bad light and should be banned... its clear now they didn't know what the hell they were talking about.
Oh, right. Well, in the game Liberty City is based on New York City.

People trying to ban games never know what they're talking about.

Exactly. That guy is the epitome of game banning idiocy.
