Why do you ask?

Yeah....?

I was wondering because I have to use it later in school. I read the features site and wondered if it was just used for web design, or if there are other implications in design like developing models. For instance models in car design where you could test wind resistance? Something like that?

Nothing like that. It's purely for web development:

HTML, Coldfusion, PHP, ASP VBScript, CSS, JavaScript, etc..,

I used dream weaver and i think that it is a good program but the fall back is if you dont know any codding you may have difficulty doing the really cool things like roll overs.

Not so, it's actually the opposite. Dreamweaver has many features that will auto generate the code for you by simply selecting images, nav depth, etc... Realistically unless you plan to write some custom stuff dreamweaver typically already has a feature that can create the code for you... for example stylesheets. The only down side to a new user is without proper training or extensive hands on experience you may not be able to use the more advanced features.

I used DW in my web design class. It was pretty good, I like it better than Frontpage. One of the cool things about it was the split view, which basically let you edit the HTML code and see the results simultaneously. It was also really nice for advanced features, like making an image change into another when the mouse pointer is over it.

Only my web design teacher lied to me. I asked him if we would learn PHP, but we never did.

EDIT: And he said yes (I'm sure a smart-ass out there is going to say "but he never answered you! how could he have lied???")

Frontpage? That was discontinued a while ago and there really is no comparison. Frontpage was replaced by Sharepoint Designer which I use regularly on my projects. It is somewhat comparable to Dreamweaver, but its still lacking quite a bit.

Well, I have the 2001 edition of Office, and it came with it. So the only two things I can honestly compare it to, are Frontpage and Mozilla.

Speaking of Sharepoint Designer... it is now free to the public. I recommend you download it and learn you're way around the IDE.
