Literally, I was typing too fast and it lagged too much. I couldn't even see what the current word was, so I ended up typing one word late or one word early.
I judge speed by wpm (average). Other tests are too proprietary. (In my top I could hit 70, I currently have around 50-60 wpm).
So far 37, I have been trying to get it up some, because I am not the speed typist, and it would be great if I had 50 wpm, but I will try harder until I get there I will be posting as I go.
83 right, 1 wrong. I never spell sentence right (always spell it sentance), even when I'm looking right at it.
*tries again*
87 / 0
*again*
95 / 0
92 / 0
so yeah.. that's about where I'm at.
EDIT:
pro-tip for aspiring typists
Actually I don't know if this will help you or not, but it always helps me:
Identify the word and type it from memory, rather than trying to type what you see. If you read and type each letter you're going to be a slow typist, but if you see a word you recognize and just type the word as you have a million times, you type faster.
Remember, it's not about typing letters, it's about typing words (at least in this test because it gives you random words. In other tests you can type even faster by identifying phrases and the like).
Typing words you're unfamiliar with or have trouble spelling (or might get confused for other words, through <-> though, etc) are always the slowest words to type.
I would recommend that you read a little ahead of where you are, so that you can type from memory rather than reading the word and then typing it immediately. I noticed I was fastest when I was typing from memory as opposed to reading, parsing, then typing. It's probably akin to using xor ax, ax instead of mov ax, 0.
Another tip: if you press the back button after you get your score (that's if you didn't open the link in a new window/tab), and then go forwards again (works in Firefox at least), you get the same text you got last time.
Also, make sure your keyboard is in a comfortable place. For some reason, I type most comfortably with my right thumb holding the keyboard in place. For some reason though, I have my little finger sticking out (hovering over the enter and backspace keys) which gets uncomfortable after a while...
my guess is that if you can become detached to the meanings of the words typed then one can just concentrate on putting fingers to the correct keys by rote, and you are using less resources, kind of like system level programming hehe ;)
What I did was read in what looked like 'whole sentences' and then type that quickly but that would be what's causing the mistakes for this particular typing test. I try to read a so-called sentence and then I go "wtf?" for a whole second before I realise that I am not typing proper English sentences but just random English words.
@bluezor,
That wasn't a challenge, I was saying "I beat my score." I believed you already; well done :)
Position 617... damn. That is good. What's weird is that I'm at position 2403 and you're at 617, but I have only 55 points less; which must mean that the points are very close where you are. If you can get more WPM and/or less mistakes, you'll probably go up by quite a few positions.
The ability to show off is unfortunately hard-coded into mankind. :(
Lol, yeah :)
I see you edited your post. If that's what you originally meant to say, then I misinterpreted your post (and thought you had misinterpreted mine); lol.
