The forum is no longer what it used to be
@Bazzy

How so? In terms of the traffic that we get or the way questions are answered?
In terms of foobarbaz-type people being here and not being here.
I'm just going to go....not being here

For me, it's the intolerance, the eagerness to bitch-slap and denigrate. There used to be a more polite air to the forums, now it seems like there is a pack of hyenas prowling the forum waiting for someone to slip up. I know the initial hostility can come from the OP, but even that used to be dealt with appropriately.

Is it time for Moderators? If the 'more vocal' members, I don't mean the one that post a lot, are short tempered and/or hostile then unfortunately moderation is needed. Maybe it is time for the more moderate members to step up and keep the peace.
I don't like all this beating around the bush. If you're thinking of names, name some names. Let those people know they're in the wrong. Even if I'm one of them.

I'm not going to name names. Why would I 'name and shame' anyone in a post about the increase of intolerance. If I have a problem with anyone I will let them know at the time of them posting. It would be unfair to name names when talking generally and not about specific incidents.
I suppose; but you should still tell those people that they're in the wrong.

I will admit I insult when people talk in 1337 talk so heavily that I would possibly need to use an algorithm to decode and understand it.

lul wht?
If I'm one of those people I'd sorely like to know.
I don't think it really helps that there are a whole crapload of people who don't take things seriously around here and expect us to answer their questions or put up with their bs. 13375p33k is not welcome here (although smatterings of it are the usual since this is the internet) and neither is broken English (excusable with extenuating circumstances of course) or stupid requests. There are rules, right? And obviously there are people who don't read them and get shitted on for it and frankly they deserve it. Undeniably, there are also tons of people who come online and ask questions civilly, and I can't say I see too much crap flying in their direction, but some people are really just asking for it.

I really don't see much point in "shitting" on anyone for any reason, and I'm not even talking about whether or not they deserve it. Point people to the rules, tell 'em we won't do homework for them. If they don't get it, leave the thread. There really isn't anything else you can do that's going to be productive or constructive in any way.
